“AMPLIFICATIONS” exhibition at the Fondation Suisse
14 September to 27 October 2023.
Exhibition organised as part of the celebrations to mark the 90th anniversary of the Foundation Suisse
The Fondation suisse / Pavillon Le Corbusier is hosting the Amplifications collective project as part of its 90th anniversary celebrations, bringing together artists from Switzerland, France, Germany and Ukraine. Curated by Francine Eggs and Andreas Bitschin, the Valais-based artists in residence at the Fondation suisse in 2019, the participating artists explore the facets of Le Corbusier’s architectural work and allow their installations to interact with the architecture of the Fondation suisse.
This exhibition raises a number of stimulating questions: how does ‘historic’ architecture manifest itself in contemporary society? And how does historical ‘modernism’, often seen as belonging to the past, retain its aesthetic relevance? In what ways, and in what thematic contexts, do contemporary artists position themselves in relation to this architecture that combines the past and the modern? How is this relationship perceived by close observation?
Participating artists will have the opportunity to express their contemporary vision of Le Corbusier’s world. Their creations will come to life through installations, videos, sculptures, performances and written sources.
Exhibition open daily from 10am-12pm and 2pm-5pm.
Free admission.
Finissage
Friday 27 October from 6pm.
