Le monde à la pointe du crayon – Voyages de Le Corbusier. 1907-1933

From 18 March to 3 May 2025, discover the latest exhibition presented by the Fondation Le Corbusier at the Maison La Roche…

The exhibition explores Le Corbusier’s formative and study journeys through a selection of some thirty original works, rarely exhibited.

In 1907, Charles-Édouard Jeanneret left his native Switzerland for Italy. There he discovered the cities of Tuscany and the frescoes of the Trecento, and produced drawings and watercolours combining architectural precision and chromatic research. In 1911, he undertook a six-month voyage of initiation through the Balkans, Turkey, Greece and Italy, filling his notebooks with observations and sketches of the landscapes and towns he visited. His subsequent trips to Latin America (1929) and North Africa (1931-1933) deepened his reflections on habitat and landscape.
The exhibition, curated by Danièle Pauly, features original works, facsimile notebooks, letters and photographs, offering an insight into the architect’s creative process and thinking.
