National Architecture Days 2023 at Le Corbusier sites
France’s National Architecture Days will be held on 13, 14 and 15 October 2023. This 8th edition will focus on the theme of “Architecture and ecological transition”, an opportunity to rediscover the special features of Le Corbusier sites through visits, workshops, conferences and other events!
Pessac – Cité Frugès-Le Corbusier
Guided tours of the Cité Frugès are available throughout the weekend. An opportunity to consider the conservation and restoration issues facing this remarkable heritage site in the light of the major challenges posed by climate change.
Dates and times: Saturday 14 October at 10am, 11.30am, 2pm and 4pm; Sunday 15 October at 2pm and 4pm.

Val de Briey – Unité d’habitation
The association La Première Rue and the Micro-Folie le Modulor are offering an opportunity to discover the Val-de-Briey Housing Unit through its history, its façade, the polychrome corridor (known as the “street”) and the show flat. On Friday 13 October 2023, a free guided tour will be offered to all types of public (tourist and school groups, students, individuals, etc.), subject to prior booking.

Firminy – Sites Le Corbusier
The Le Corbusier site is offering a number of free tours on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October. This is your chance to (re)discover the Maison de la Culture, Saint-Pierre church and the sports buildings designed by Le Corbusier and A. Wogenscky and experience the exhibitions Sport, portraits d’une ville and Ça bouge en ville! and Sport and architecture for tomorrow. A site visit to the Noyers nursery school and a tour of the Unité d’habitation are also on the programme.

Piacé – Espace Bézard-Le Corbusier
The Bézard – Le Corbusier space, dedicated to the rural development project imagined by the two men in the 1930s, “La Ferme radieuse et le village coopératif”, will be open on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October from 2.30pm to 6pm. Exhibitions, guided tours, architectural tours and a shared meal are on the programme for these two days.

Ronchamp – Colline Notre-Dame du Haut
On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 October, the Porterie is offering unique guided tours of the hull and the restoration worksite of the Notre-Dame du Haut chapel. This is an opportunity to find out more about the construction system of the monument and the challenges of its conservation. For a guided tour, the community of Poor Clares will be opening part of the Sainte Claire monastery, built in 2011 by Italian architect Renzo Piano. Visits must be booked in advance.

Roquebrune Cap Martin – Ensemble Cap Moderne
Conference tours dedicated to the Cap Moderne complex will be organised throughout the weekend. These include the Villa E1027 by Eileen Gray and Jean Badovici and the Le Corbusier site, which includes the Cabanon Le Corbusier and its Workshop, as well as the Camping Units built on the site of the former Etoile de Mer restaurant. There will also be a tour of Villa E1027 by Eileen Gray, followed by musical entertainment, on Sunday 15 October.

Eveux – Couvent Sainte-Marie de la Tourette
In addition to the usual tours, the Convent will be offering an architectural tour on Saturday 14 October at 10.15am. It’s an opportunity to find out how Le Corbusier designed this study convent for Dominican friars in the late 1950s.

The Fondation Le Corbusier is organising a series of events on Saturday 14 October at the Maison La Roche: free guided tours of the Maison La Roche every 30 minutes and a visit to the Antretemps exhibition by the artist matali crasset from 3pm to 4.30pm.

Tours, workshops for children and presentations of architectural models are on the programme at the Musée des années 30.
